Susanna Reid admitted that she feared Piers Morgan may have contracted coronavirus after his return from the US.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, was back on the ITV programme today after taking time off for the February half term.
Piers showed off gifts he had received from viewers to celebrate his return, including a wooly hat, a bright pink tie and a half naked photograph.
"I'm rather ashamed I haven't got you a present on your return," co-host Susanna Reid admitted.
Piers agreed: "Thank god for the viewers because otherwise I'd get nothing, no love at all from the room."
"No hug, no kiss," Susanna added.
"Just love from the people back home," said Piers, who continued to cough, prompting Susanna to comment.
She said: "Can I just say that you're coughing a little bit. I'm not that keen on those symptoms."
Charlotte Hawkins added: "Are you ok?"
"Coronavirus," Piers joked, but Susanna still looked concerned.
She asked: "You do know the advice, don't you?"
"Yep," he replied.
"You're supposed to cough into a tissue and then throw the tissue away," she said.
He quipped: "And then wash your hands and sing God Save The Queen."
She said: "No, sing Happy Birthday."
Piers added: "It's a serious thing. Whatever they're saying, it's going to get worse before it gets better."
