Fears over flooding as weather warnings are issued for Portishead, Pill, Shirehampton and Portbury Dock

The Environment Agency has issued a yellow flood warning for Portishead and Portbury Dock.

It has said that waves may come over sea defences at Portbury and Portishead as a result of high tides and strong winds.

The forecast for high water comes into place at 8pm this evening (March 10). The second forecast for high water is at 08.30am tomorrow morning (Wednesday March 11).

On top of this, the Environment Agency have warned about the potential for flooding along the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth.

It has also issued flood alerts for Watch House Road in Pill and the Station Road area of Shirehampton.

Flooding to roads, farmland and properties is possible at these times and flooding may occur one to two hours either side of the high tide.

The Environment Agency are closely monitoring the situation and advised people to be careful who are walking along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads.

They are expected to provide an update on the flooding tomorrow (Wednesday March 11).
