Fears over boy knocking on doors before mum explains sweet reason

A mum explained why her son was knocking on doors after residents were left "alarmed".

Norris Green residents had raised concerns in a now deleted Facebook post over two teenagers knocking on doors in the area. It is understood images of the teens were also shared.

However, a woman claiming to be one of the boy's mum has said they were knocking on doors to offer piano lessons and were hoping to launch a teaching group.

She said on the Facebook page: "Dear All, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by my son who have been knocking at your doors to introduce his piano lessons. His intentions were genuine to help children learn piano lessons.

"He is wanting to set up a group teaching piano, no harm was meant, so sorry."

Hundreds of messages were left on the mum's post supporting the boy and condemning those who left nasty comments.

One person said: "They knocked at mine and we're absolutely lovely and polite. They very clearly explained they were finding out if there was enough interest, such a shame it turned into a bit of a witch hunt."

A second person added: "Can I just say your son was extremely polite and never once made me feel uneasy in anyway him and his friend was so lovely very genuine too. They explained their intentions fully and explained they were taking mobile numbers. Well done to your son and his friend. I hope they get lots of offers."

Another person said: "Feel sorry for your family I've seen some of the awful comments people left. Maybe get some leaflets printed I'm sure lots will take them up on it."

A fourth person also said: "Well done to your son for being independent and trying to earn his own money. You should be very proud of him."

Another resident added: "Wishing your son every success, he will go far I am sure." Other people who had commented on the previous post explained why they did.

One person said: "I jumped on the bandwagon, sincere apologies but having a child and being aware of all the horrors of the world (or just my area even) it’s hard not these days. I wish your son all the luck in the world, a little business man in the making."

Other people wished the boy luck in his future ventures and suggested he made leaflets or set up a social media page to help him get customers.
