Fears Newcastle United defender could miss rest of the season after injury setback

Steve Bruce has revealed that Republic of Ireland defender Ciaran Clark has suffered a setback in training and could miss the rest of the season.

However, the Toon boss has received better news on Florian Lejeune and the Frenchman - who thought his season was finished - could yet be back to appear at Brighton or the home game with Liverpool.

Bruce, who has Jamaal Lascelles, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin pushing for the trip to Watford tomorrow, held a roll call at training this morning.

But said: "We've got one or two knocks from the other night. Emil Krafth is a concern but we've got one or two coming back which is always good.

"I would doubt we'll see Ciaran Clark again this season but Florian Lejeune might be available towards the end of next week."

Clark picked up an ankle injury in the 4-0 beating at Arsenal while Lejeune was injured in a mid-season friendly against Hull City.
