Fears Love Island could be taken off air as 'violent sickness bug hits production crew'

A violent sickness bug is said to have hit the Love Island villa - and there are fears that the ITV2 show could be taken off air if it hits the contestants.

According to reports, the dreaded norovirus bug has affected some members of the production crew, who are believed to be in quarantine.

Some poor workers, including hairstylists, are said to have reported stomach cramps and extreme vomiting that meant they had to stay "within seconds of a toilet" at all times.

Mike Boateng (ITV)

Those affected have been told to stay in their hotel rooms while medical experts work to find out where the bug originated.

New boy Finley Tapp (ITV)

To prevent the virus spreading, sanitation points and hand wash areas have been installed around the villa.

New boy Connagh Howard (ITV)

Food and water for both contestants and the crew are thought to be brought in by outside caterers.

It's also believed that crew members have been ordered not to shake hands or kiss, while being issued with medical packs, which include probiotics and rehydration packs.

Love Island continues tonight from 9pm on ITV2.
