Fears growing for sisters aged 11 and 9 who vanished from home a week ago

Police are searching for two young sisters who have been missing for more than a week.

Nine-year-old Scarlett Hooligan and older sister Matilda, 11, were last seen at their home in Southport on May 31.

Merseyside Police are appealing for help from the public to find the siblings and are asking for people to come forward with information.

The Hooligan sisters are believed to be together and possibly with an adult member of their family, Liverpool Echo reports.

It is not clear who the adult they are with it, but officers are urging anyone who knows where the girls are to get in touch.

In a statement, a police spokesman said: "We are appealing for help to locate two girls aged 11 and nine from Southport who have been reported missing and are thought to be with an adult family member.

"Matilda, 11, and Scarlett Hooligan, nine were last seen at home in Southport on Sunday, 31 May.

"It is believed the girls are with an adult member of their family, and anyone who has seen them or knows of their whereabouts is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @missingpeople on 116 000."
