Fears grow for missing toddler as search continues

Grave fears are held for a toddler missing in bushland on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The 22-month-old boy disappeared from a property at Carriage Way at Cooroibah about 5:30pm AEST on Sunday.

A search involving police divers, State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers and fire and rescue officers began at first light this morning.

SES spokesman Dave Hanchard says concerns are held for the boy's safety because the area is heavily wooded with numerous dams.

Police divers are scouring the dams on the bushland property for the missing toddler.

Mr Hanchard says local residents are also helping with the search.

"We had about 24 residents last night up until about midnight and since midnight we've had about nine," he said.

He says more volunteers are on their way to help.

"At the moment we've got about 18 and we've got another coming in at eight o'clock," he said.

The boy was barefoot, has blonde hair and was wearing a red Wiggles singlet and a nappy.
