Anthony James Plunkett, 51, was reported missing at about 10.50am today (Wednesday) after leaving his family home on Cedars Gardens in Gateshead .
He has not been seen since about 9.45am and his whereabouts are not known.
Enquiries to try and locate him are ongoing but police and his family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.
Officers have now released a picture of Anthony in the hope that someone may have seen him since his disappearance.
He is described as white, about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with short, greying hair and an unkempt appearance.
Anthony is believed to be wearing a green bomber jacket, a salmon t-shirt, jeans and black trainers.
Anyone who may be able to assist police in locating him is asked to call 101 quoting log 300 24/04/19.
