Fears grow for girl, 16, who vanished six days ago in coronavirus lockdown

Police say they are "increasingly concerned" for a girl who has been missing for six days.

Sophie Walton, 16, from Pilsley, Derbyshire, was last seen on the afternoon of Wednesday April 8.

Officers say they have received reports that people have seen someone matching her description in the Whittington Moor and New Whittington areas of Chesterfield in recent days.

Derbyshire Police have released a description and picture of Sophie in a bid to try and find the teenager.

A spokesman said: "She is white, slim, 5ft 6ins tall and has long black hair. She was last seen wearing a white coat, black trousers and white trainers.

"If you know where Sophie is, or you have seen her during your daily exercise outside, please contact us."

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 1032 of April 8.

People can also contact Crimestoppers, which is an anonymous servive on 0800 555 111.

A reward is sometimes offered if information leads to a successful outcome.
