Fears grow as search for missing man continues 17 days after his disappearance

Concerns continue to grow for a man now missing for 17 days.

James Miller was last seen just before Christmas, his disappearance sparking a series of appeals for information.

Search teams have used sonar in the Mersey and police have urged people to check their sheds amid extensive efforts to find him.

James was last seen at 11pm on Tuesday, December 22 on Slater Street, in the Latchford area of Warrington.

Cheshire Police has issued several appeals in the hope someone may have seen the 38-year-old.

Officers from a police underwater search and marine unit are among those to have been drafted in for the search, with the unit searching the Mersey in their bid to find him.

Speaking on Christmas Eve, when the first public appeal was issued, PC Angela Bahn, of the Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “We’re becoming increasingly concerned for James as time goes on and are continuing to search the area he was last seen.

"I am encouraging anyone who thinks they may have seen James, or know of his whereabouts, to please contact us. I would also ask residents to check their sheds and outbuildings and report any information to us.

“James, if you see this please get in touch with us on 101 as your family are really worried about you.”
