Fears are mounting that this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! won't be able to go ahead.
The ITV reality show was relocated from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle in Wales thanks to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
But now that stricter Covid-19 measures are being put in place across the UK, it's feared that the series will have to be pulled.
It was announced today that Wales is preparing for a three-week circuit breaker lockdown, which could come into force from next Friday.
Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford says the government is planning to impose a "fire break" national lockdown.
It would see people confined to their homes and businesses shutting for two or three weeks in the hope that it would give the virus a "short, sharp shock".
A start date for the plan has not yet been announced, but the First Minister said meetings would be held over the weekend and that the plans would be confirmed on Monday.
Yesterday, Mr Drakeford threatened to close the Welsh borders to English people looking to visit.
He told Prime Minister Boris Johnson that he will prevent people living in coronavirus hotspots in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from crossing into Wales.
The Sunday Mirror reported last weekend that bosses were having urgent talks about axing the next series over fears that changing lockdown rules could make it impossible.
It's said that show chiefs are now holding daily meetings about the Government's changing guidelines for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
A source said: "There are fears on set about a national lockdown if cases and deaths continue to rise.
"It has been a huge concern to the casting team as well as producers.
"The possibility of postponing the series and rescheduling to early next year was given due consideration.
"But rescheduling isn’t a viable option as the casting involves set dates in contracts for talent.
"A contingency plan is being put into place but it’s unlikely they will be able to postpone to 2021.
"In the worst-case scenario this year’s series will have to be cancelled."
An ITV spokesperson told Mirror Online: "I'm A Celebrity continues to adhere to all relevant guidelines as well as our own strict Covid protocols."
