Girl, 11, missing in Sydney's south found safe and well

Police have located an 11-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Sydney's south this morning.

Jacinta Laverance was last seen by family members at her Sylvania Heights home on Sunday night, and was discovered missing this morning.

Her parents alerted police at 7:25am after they had searched areas she frequented, but could not find her.

Police launched a large-scale search involving the police helicopter and dog squad and members of the public also became involved.

She was found unhurt near A.R. Hurst Reserve at Sylvania Heights just before lunchtime.

The reserve is about a kilometre from the girl's home.

The 11-year-old is being medically assessed and police have not yet spoken to her about her disappearance.

Officers have thanked the public for assisting with the search.

Her parents Mark and Belinda Laverance spoke briefly after she was found and thanked the police and the public for helping bring their daughter home safely.
