Multiple doctors at a busy GP surgery have fallen victim to coronavirus.
And it raised the spectre of them passing it on to their sick patients.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran failed to admit who was ill at the Kirkhall Surgery in Prestwick.
But we can reveal a number of doctors are now in self isolation.
Five GPs work at the surgery.
On Sunday NHS Ayrshire & Arran claimed there was no increased risk.
And they failed to state it was the doctors who were carrying Covid 19.
The NHS released a statement said to be from a “spokesperson from Kirkhall.”
It said: “Due to a number of positive cases of coronavirus directly linked to the practice, and on advice from NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Team, Kirkhall Surgery has taken the decision to close to all patients temporarily until Thursday, March 26.
“The practice has asked NHS Ayrshire & Arran to step in to support them to continue to deliver primary care services during this time and we will work together to manage the situation and limit inconvenience to patients.
“NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Team have advised that no patients are at increased risk.”
The practice website admits “a number of staff testing positive for coronavirus.”
One patient said: “This story has been doing the rounds for a few days.
“People are very worried the doctors have passed it on to their patients.”
The health authority refused a direct request to confirm that doctors had gone down with the virus.
Instead Dr Joy Tomlinson, Director of Public Health, said: “All of those who developed symptoms immediately took steps to isolate themselves.
"As a result of their actions they have minimised the risk to anyone else.”
