Fearne Cotton’s Favourite Things

Fearne Cotton has held the hearts of the UK for years. From her early days presenting on Radio 1 to her 10 year stint on Celebrity Juice, she’s been spreading joy across the nation throughout her career.

With her work, the presenter’s mission is to make people feel good about themselves. Spending her time flitting between her ‘Sounds of the 90s’ Radio 2 show, producing Happy Place, her podcast and online community, and writing self-help books, she’s as busy as ever.

In Happy Place, the Sunday Times bestselling author discusses life, loss, and everything in-between with a range of incredible people, in search for what happiness means to them. From actor Minnie Driver, whose films include Good Will Hunting and The Phantom of the Opera, to author Björn Natthiko Lindeblad, who spent 17 years living in Thailand’s jungle as a forest monk, the diverse guests means there’s an episode that will interest everyone.

Having previously designed childrenswear for Mini Club, this is not the first time Cotton has dabbled in fashion. The presenter was the perfect match for responsible womenswear label Nobody’s Child, whose mission is to make women’s fashion more sustainable and affordable.

Her summer collection lives up to her signature eclectic style, including ditsy florals, slinky slips, and retro minis, all in a cheery colour palette. Our hero pieces are the silky pink slip and the white broderie anglaise midi, which could both be dressed down with a pair of trainers or smartened up with a pair of heels.

We caught up with Fearne to chat about the collection and find out some of her favourite things.

What are you up to at the moment?

Working on lots of Happy Place projects which is very exciting. The podcast weekly is a joy to create, the Happy Place festivals this summer are all ready to go, we also have some more books out on Happy Place books this year as well as hosting my radio show sounds of the 90’s on Radio 2, and working on a new book I have coming out in the autumn.

How was the process of collaborating with Nobody’s Child for this collection?

Really fun all round. I was already a huge fan of the brand and love that they create responsible fashion. We have similar values brand wise which really helps too.

How was the collection influenced by Happy Place?

These are clothes that make you feel happy. I want to feel joyful when I put an outfit on and I think all of these dresses and jumpsuits do just that.

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic. I’ve never aligned with one trend or really followed what’s going on in the fashion world. I have of course been influenced by colours and trends that are out there but at the age of 40 I know what shapes, styles and prints I like. I think fashion should always be fun so I wear a lot of colour and print.

What’s your favourite piece from the collection?

I think the Vienna Mini dress is my favourite as I love the colours and shape. Perfect for a summer’s day.

What is the one item of clothing you couldn’t live without?

Trainers. I live in them. I love wearing them with jeans and dresses. I’m always dashing about with the kids or from job to job so I want to be comfortable.

What’s your go-to look this summer?

A dress and trainers. Perfect for a day at work but also going out to socialise with mates.

How do you treat yourself?

By trying to give myself time out. I actively look for moments where I can slow down and take time out. A nice quiet walk on my own or a moment reading a good book. My job is very social so I love moments of solitude.
