Fearne Cotton admits party days are over as now she goes to bed early and reads a book

She built a reputation as a DJ and party girl but Fearne Cotton admits she now prefers an early night tucked up with a book.

And Fearne, 38, says she has been giving biographies more attention in the bedroom than husband Jesse Wood, son of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie.

She said: “If I’m not in bed reading a book by half nine, there’s something seriously wrong.

“I get greedy having my own time because it feels like there’s so little of it. I need to get in bed and have no one near me and be in my own little book world.

“But then I’m going, ‘Oh my God, but I need to give my marriage some energy.’ It’s a tough thing to balance.”

Fearne and musician Jesse,43, have two young children and celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary yesterday.

They met when Fearne was on a girls’ holiday in Ibiza in 2011 and she called the evening “a game-changing, very drunken night out I’m forever grateful for”.

Back then, she was a Radio 1 DJ and would spend her time at festivals partying with rock stars and celeb pals.

She was also a regular on Celebrity Juice with best mate Holly Willoughby.

She has since made the move to Radio 2 to host the Sound of the 90s show. And after having kids, she reckons she is nowhere near as cool.

“I’m not fun any more. I am not, it’s gone. I think it’s a hard thing to do, especially when your kids are little, to not lose yourself.

“I’ve had days where my kids are just being crazy and work’s gone a bit awry and I’m behind with everything, and I haven’t done the bloody laundry. In my head I have to go, ‘I surrender’.”

Fearne, Jesse and their kids Rex, seven, and Honey, four, have spent lockdown at home in Richmond in South West London, and Fearne says they’re happy all together.

She said: “I love it now, I don’t ever want to leave my house, quite frankly. I’m quite nervous about what happens afterwards.”
