Feared gangster 'The Turk' wanted again after one month of freedom

A feared south Liverpool gangster nicknamed 'The Turk' is wanted by police again just a month after his release from prison on licence.

Ciaran McHale, 28, was recalled to prison by a parole board after breaching the terms of his licence and allegedly breaching a Serious Crime Prevention Order.

McHale, who has roots in Toxteth but whose last address was given as Alexandra Park, Aigburth, was jailed for five years and nine months in 2018 as part of Operation Bombay, a major covert Merseyside Police operation into dangerous armed gangs.

The crook's DNA was found on hollow-point Smith and Wesson bullets loaded into a revolver recovered by police from outside the home of an organised crime group associate called Neil Huyton.

McHale was found to have been a close associate of Anthony Tierney, a high level player in a firearms trafficking gang led by Dingle native Christopher Wallace.

Wallace was later jailed for life for his role in supplying guns and ammunition to the East Side Boys, led by brothers Callum and Jake Burrows, a Speke based gang linked to a number of drugs related shootings.

Wallace and his henchmen were also responsible for producing pipe bombs found by police in a back street garage turned armoury.

McHale was released on May 14 this year at the half way point of his custodial sentence, but had managed to breach the terms of his licence and the gang order by June 16 and was recalled.

Today Merseyside Police appealed to the public for help in tracing McHale.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Ciaran McHale, who is originally from Liverpool, is wanted for reportedly failing to comply with his licence conditions and for allegedly breaching his Serious Crime Prevention order.

"He was released from prison on 14th May 2021 after serving part of a prison for sentence for not having a firearms licence.

"He was recalled to prison on 16th June.

"McHale is described as a white male, 5ft 9in tall, of proportionate build and with black hair and brown eyes.

"Anyone who has seen McHale or knows of his whereabouts is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111."
