Fear Not, Suzuki VanVan Fans, Your Fave Is About To Get Resurrected

Ah, the Suzuki VanVan. Sure, it isn't quite as popular as the Honda Monkey. But, then again, that's probably because Suzuki called it quits on the diminutive little bike some time ago. And also, it hasn't simultaneously kept the VanVan in production for approximately a bazillion years, frequently launching new paint and graphics in different markets to keep the intrigue alive. This is no knock against Honda, as clearly this strategy has worked for them. But isn't that a lot of work, even if it doesn't seem like it at first?

Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Maybe. Or, at least, that's probably what Suzuki is hoping for, because it's just announced one of the starring world premiere concepts it's about to bring to the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. Spoiler alert: It's a VanVan!

Not just any VanVan, though; a VanVan fit for 2025. An e-VanVan, if you will. The design is crisp, evocative, and on point.

Suzuki e-VanVan

It's somehow got that retro-future vibe down pat, in a way that looks (to my eyes) to be even more approachable than BMW's CE-02. Since it's a concept, Suzuki hasn't released any specs whatsoever about this little guy, but I'd imagine that if the OEM does bring it to market, the likes of the CE-02 are what it'll be up against. Only, because it's Suzuki, it's a safe bet that it'll cost a considerable amount less money for your youth-focused e-scoot cool infusion.

Don't worry, the e-VanVan is also bringing friends to the Japan Mobility Show. As you may or may not be aware, while Suzuki pulled out of selling its cars and trucks in the US, it still does quite well selling them in many other countries. So, it's bringing some of those to the show, which are outside the scope of RideApart. There are a few other things it's bringing that I think you'll be interested in, though.

Suzuki eAddress

First up is the eAddress, which is exactly what it sounds like: An electric version of Suzuki's long-running little commuter scooter, the Address. This one kind of seems like a no-brainer on Suzuki's part, honestly, though as a former scooter commuter myself, I still can't get behind eating up all the storage space on any scooter with battery packs. Yes, I know they need to go somewhere, but a major selling point of all scooters is that underseat storage area. I'll never be a fan of getting rid of it, even if the electric motor is fantastic and the range wonderful.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 FFV

And then there's the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 FFV, or Flex Fuel Vehicle. Introduced in India earlier this year, Suzuki is bringing this little 250 to the Japan Mobility Show 2025 to show it off on home turf, as well. If you're looking for ways to expand what kinds of fuel a trusty, small-displacement combustion motorbike can work with, Suzuki's been thinking about it, too. The Gixxer 250 line is immensely popular in many countries in Asia and Southeast Asia, so the math is totally mathing here.

Suzuki Suzu-Ride 2

Getting a little more off the beaten path, Suzuki is also bringing along the world premiere of the second generation of its Suzu-Ride, fittingly called the Suzu-Ride 2.  I still think it looks like a snail (and that's not a bad thing). Do you?

It's a low-speed "electric compact mobility vehicle," complete with easy space to carry luggage behind the rider. As a concept, like Suzuki's other concepts that it's bringing, there aren't really technical details available about it that have been released just yet.

Suzuki Moqba 2

Last but absolutely not least, Suzuki is also bringing along the updated version of another electric concept it first introduced in 2023. This time, it's called the Moqba 2, and while Suzuki insists that it's "technologically advanced" as compared to the first version, that seems a bit meaningless to you and me since no actual technical details have been released.

But hey, if Kawasaki is really and truly working on its wild Corleo horse concept, why can't Suzuki have a less-intimidating robot dog/motorcycle hybrid for future package delivery errands? At least this one doesn't actively look like it wants to rip your face off.

If you're interested in attending the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and you'll be in Tokyo from October 30 through November 9, 2025, you can find more information (including hours of operation, ticket costs, and more) here.
