Just a few weeks ago, Rahul Mishra showcased his The Tree Of Life collection at the prestigious Paris Haute Couture Week and he brought the same collection to his Indian audience by adding some lehengas, saris and kurtas at FDCI India Couture Week 2022.
Most of Mishra's inspiration comes from his travel. The designer calls his collection a manifestation of nature's abundance. Rahul Mishra has tried to capture the moment when the leaves turn to gold for a moment at the break of the dawn when the sun shines from the horizon.
His pieces featured fabrics that were handwoven at villages in India. There were 2D and 3D embroidery work that were done with hands for over 10,000 human hours. Despite heavy embellishments done on the clothing, they were lightweight and looked effortless as the models sauntered down the ramp wearing Mishra's artwork.
The designer injected a lot of gold and sequins into his collection. His menswear was equal parts opulent and of the moment. There were embroidered jackets and pants teamed with sheer vest, sequined kurta-pajama set with a floral bundi and golden embroidered bandhagalas for men.
The garments which stood out in his collection were the sheer catsuits with gold embroidery and 3D embroidered leaf dress with exaggerated shoulders.
