Fusing technology with traditional haute couture craftmanship is Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen and designer Amit Aggarwal is India's answer to the master couturier who presented a fabulous collection titled Pedesis during the ongoing FDCI India Couture Week 2022 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Aggarwal is a risk-taker and the only designer in India who is known for his innovative textile made with polymer, which is converted into yarn and later woven into a handloom.
His show was all about inclusivity and the celebration of human connection. Models glided down the ramp to live music and his clothes rendered an immersive experience.
In his collection note, the designer writes, "On a personal level, the past decade and the Pedesis Couture 2022 are not a celebration of the product but about the process — those glitches you don’t see, the endless iterations before a single form takes shape, the exhausting debates that make it all worth it in the end. To everyone who made this possible, the brand holds you deep within its soul. You flow in the blood, the veins, and the very core of us. And thank you for that. You give us a reason to smile, to have faith against all odds, to exist, and to exist beautifully."
There was tactile luminosity in Amit's every look. The draping techiques used in creating the pieces made it an artwork. We could also notice newer draping techniques which became a part of both menswear and womenswear.
