The czar of embroideries, who adds his magical touch with a royal edge, JJ Valaya, was given
the felicitated by Indian economist and civil servant, Montek Singh Ahluwalia at the second edition of the FDCI Couture Hall of Fame Awards held in the Capital.
Organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) with an aim to honour Indian fashion talent, the event awarded designers JJ Valaya, Manish Malhotra, and Anamika Khanna, and fashion choreographers Asha Kochhar and Vidyun Singh, for their collective work of more than 100 years in the industry.
On receiving the award ace couturier JJ Valaya said, "It's indeed a very humbling moment. I'm overwhelmed to receive such warm appreciation and this supreme validation from the industry. It's now been 30 years of being a part of this wonderful industry and it’s a journey that I continue to enjoy to the fullest. It’s often difficult to put words into feelings therefore I think gratitude would perhaps be the one word that would sum up this moment perfectly, gratitude to the universe, to my team and colleagues, to my fraternity, to FDCI, and of course to the captain of the ship, Mr. Sunil Sethi."
It was an evening that saw India’s top designers, stylists and editors present, to applaud the contributions of those, who paved the way for design dialogues.
