FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic issues transfer update amid Manchester United links

Ivan Rakitic insists he is still happy at Barcelona amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer.

The Croatian midfielder has been a mainstay in the Barcelona squad over the past few years but has recently fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.

Rakitic has experienced a reduced role this season with only 31 appearances in all competitions and reports suggest he could be sold in the summer window.

United are one such side linked with the 32-year-old although it is worth noting MEN Sport do not believe him to be a current target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was previously on Jose Mourinho's radar when he was United manager.

Rakitic says he is used to the speculation regarding his future at Barcelona and insists he is fully focused on honouring his deal with the club.

“I’ve got used to it a bit," he told Mundo Deportivo. "I’ve been here six years now – so I’ve had six years of this sort of thing.

“I have to try to understand it, to remember that football is not just a sport. There is a bit more to it.

“We know that, we have to try to understand it – you have a laugh about it sometimes.

“I’ve still got a contract, when I sign a contract, I always intend to fulfil it, and if that cannot happen for any reason, then we’ll sit down together and talk about it.

“But for the moment, I am very happy here and I am thinking about other stuff.”
