FBI probe ISIS bride Lisa Smith for links to prominent American jihadi

The FBI are trying to learn the nature of ISIS bride Lisa Smith’s relationship with a prominent American jihadi John Georgelas.

Smith, who maintains she was only married once in Syria to British teacher Sajid Aslam, is now believed to be linked closely to American jihadi dubbed the “ISIS Goebbels”.

Security sources in Ireland have confirmed the relationship between the former Air Corps steward and the Greek/American convert is part of an investigation being carried out in Ireland and the USA.

Georgelas contacted Smith several years ago and they communicated regularly online, Smith is believed to have sent money to Georgelas to facilitate her travel into Syria where she lived with the American convert and his Syrian wife for several months.

The FBI and Irish security services are currently investigating the nature of Smith’s relationship to Georgelas who held a high profile role working in ISIS media department where he created propaganda for the English language magazines and ISIS radio.

Smith, who was married several times before traveling to Syria, is believed to have communicated with Georgelas regularly online where they discussed Islamic theology and her travel to Syria.

According to security sources Smith traveled into Syria on the same bus as the American jihadi after flying to Turkey and crossing in from the southern city of Gaziantep.

Georgelas was previously married to a British woman from London Tania Georgelas who lived with the Texas native for three weeks in Syria before being smuggled out of the country via Turkey.

Smith is believed to have been in contact with Georgelas during this time.

Smith had previously played down her relationship to the jihadi and in an interview with the Mail on Sunday last April stated “an american” she talked to online said she should move to ISIS territory to practice Islam.

Sources close to Smith stated before her travel to Syria the 38-year-old had researched the role of a second wife in an islamic marriage.

Smith’s family recently instructed Belfast based lawyer Darragh Mackin to represent the mother of one who is currently in a Syrian refugee camp with other foreign ISIS recruits.
