Oct. 24--A man suspected of robbing three other South and Southwest Side banks since July robbed a West Pullman bank Friday morning, authorities said.
The man robbed a Chase Bank branch, 11721 S. Halsted St., about 10:55 a.m., according to the FBI's BandittrackerChicago.com. He had tried to rob a Bank of America branch, 5601 S. Kedzie Ave., about 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the FBI.
The robber entered the bank and demanded cash from a teller, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. The man then fled on foot with the money.
No weapon was shown in the robbery, Sweeney said.
The man began robbing banks on July 1, when he robbed another Byline Bank, 4658 S. Kedzie Ave. He also is suspected of robbing another Byline Bank, 4050 S. Archer Ave., on Sept. 14, and another Chase Bank, 8340 S. Kedzie Ave., about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 29.
The man was described as black, in his late 30s to early 40s, and standing about 5-foot-10 and weighing between 200 and 220 pounds. In the latest robbery, a surveillance photograph shows him wearing a bright blue hooded sweatshirt or jacket and a blue baseball cap.
Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700.
