FBI issues warning to Scotland fans travelling to USA for World Cup

SCOTLAND fans travelling to Miami for the World Cup clash with Brazil have been warned by the FBI not to go anywhere near the Hard Rock Stadium unless they have a ticket.

The warning comes amid heightened security at the venue following last year's Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia, which saw thousands of fans rush the turnstiles and force their way into the ground.

It adds to a string of cautions already issued to the Tartan Army, who have also been advised to avoid planned marches due to Miami's sweltering heat and humidity, and to be mindful that the game falls during hurricane season.

FBI deputy director Andrew Bailey said: "I don't want to get into tactics, techniques and procedures for the games at the Hard Rock Stadium.

"But if you don't have a ticket, don't go near the stadium.

"The law enforcement professionals that stand with us in partnership with their federal colleagues have the experience and the intelligence necessary and the manpower and equipment necessary, to mitigate those risks.

"Security zones will be in place and I would again urge fans without tickets not to travel to the match venue."

"Go to designated fan zones instead.

"I can confidently say that the work being done to ensure the safety and security of this event is very strong for the World Cup."

Steve Clarke's side face Brazil in their final group game, with the Scots meeting the South Americans for the fifth time at a World Cup.
