The FBI confirmed Thursday that Brian Laundrie’s remains were discovered Wednesday in a Florida park.
Laundrie, 23, had been a person of interest in the death of his fiancée Gabby Petito.
The remains were found in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park alongside several personal items belonging to Laundrie, and dental records confirmed the identification, the FBI’s Denver office said.
Laundrie had been missing since mid-September. He and Petito, 22, were on a cross-country trip in August, but he returned home to North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1 without his longtime partner.
Petito’s body was discovered in Wyoming. After an autopsy last week, a medical examiner said the official cause of death was “manual strangulation/throttling.”
Teton County Coroner Brent Blue said Petito’s remains had been outside for about three to four weeks
