A redundant tip: visit Arcade Food Theatre at Centre Point on the evening of the Love Island final. Plenty of space to enjoy punctilious Nikkei sushi from Chotto Matte and seductive künefe pastry from Oklava.

After Present Laughter at The Old Vic, spare ribs at the venerable Italian La Barca because, along with Mimmo d’Ischia (RIP), they offered them (bizarrely) long before anyone else.

At The Northall in Corinthia Hotel, where chef André Garrett reigns, a wonderful manifestation of succotash (corn kernels, broad beans and here girolles) with guinea fowl breast.

Alongside duck and lobster presses there is now a pigeon press at Otto’s, Gray’s Inn Road. Rare breast reclines on toasted brioche spread with morels.

Exhausted from the bed-making in The Chambermaid at Barbican Cinema, I stumble into Côte next door for chargrilled Breton chicken.
