Fawad Khan reveals how trying to gain weight like Christian Bale, Aamir Khan backfired; discusses the negative impact of such transformation

Pakistani actor and heartthrob Fawad Khan recently opened up about his body transformation for his role in his next film The Legend of Maula Jatt, in which he plays a fierce prizefighter. The actor revealed how his physical transformation took a drastic toll on his health and almost put his life at risk.

Talking to Something Haute, the 40-year-old described his weight gain journey, wherein he underwent bulking up for the role and shedding it all. This he says led to hospitalisation and almost 3 months of recovery.

“It is not the best thing I did to myself. I would never do that again. I just made some questionable choices, which negatively affected me. There is a dark underbelly to all of these physical transformations and people should know that when you make these decisions, it is taking a huge toll on your health. And it happened. Ten days into it, I was hospitalised. My kidneys shut down,” he said in the interview.

According to reports, Fawad went from weighing 73-75 kg to a shocking 100 kg.

He further added, “I was told to walk less and eliminate stress completely. I was putting in insane hours. It’s not the right way to do these things because the thing is I had limited time. Due to whatever circumstances, it happened the way it happened. I am not Christian Bale but I tried to do what he does, even Aamir Khan for that matter. It is not a transformation that I would encourage for anyone. Absolutely never.”

As is known, Aamir Khan underwent a huge transformation for his role in Dangal, whereas Hollywood's Christian Bale gained a lot of weight for American Hustle.

Fawad further advises against such drastic steps. According to him, one needs atleast 6 months for such a transformation and he had very 'limited time,' which is why he had to take 'insane' steps.

"If I had 6 months, maybe Maula Jatt would have looked very different," Fawad says.

Fawad Khan's diabetic history

At the age of 17, Fawad Khan was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. Doctors had said that the Pakistani's actor's condition developed due to an Autoimmune disorder.

Despite being diabetic, the actor underwent drastic measures to achieve his desired physique for the role in The Legend of Maula Jatt.“It is not the best thing I did to myself. I would never do that again. I just made some questionable choices, which negatively affected me," he said.
