Hello and welcome to the Sweet 16 of our Favorite Spartans of All Time Tournament. The name is still terrible (and probably changed from the first round) but it’s still a pandemic out there and frankly, you and I have better things to worry about than thinking up a snappy name for this bracket challenge.
Some more big names went down in round two and we’re left with 16 of the most popular Michigan State Spartans of all time. This is when the real heavyweight matchups begin.
Without further ado, it’s time for the Sweet 16 in the Draymond Green region.
No. 1 Draymond Green vs. No. 4 Plaxico Burress
No. 1 seed Draymond Green cruised into the second round with a massive 96-4 win over No. 8 seed Tony Lippett. Green is the region favorite, but should now start facing some tougher competition.
His first test is Plaxico Burress. Burress took down Antonio Smith with relative ease. Can the game-breaking receiver challenge Green?
No. 3 Morris Peterson vs. No. 15 Xavier Tillman Sr.
Mo Pete crushed Andre Rison to punch his ticket to the Sweet 16. With No. 2 seed Lorenzo White eliminated, can Peterson find his way to the Elite 8?
He takes on our very own Florida Gulf Coast in Xavier Tillman Sr.. Tillman pulled a big upset in round one over the greatest running back in MSU history Lorenzo White and slid past Kirk Gibson in the second round. Can Tillman’s run continue?
