Hello and welcome to round two of our Favorite Spartans of All Time Tournament. The name is still terrible (and probably changed from the first round) but it’s still a pandemic out there and frankly, you and I have better things to worry about than thinking up a snappy name for this bracket challenge.
We had some upsets in round one, but the chalk held pretty steady across the board. That sets up a ton of big matchups in round two.
Let’s not waste any time and get into voting on the Kirk Cousins region.
You can vote on the Magic Johnson region here.
No. 1 Kirk Cousins vs. No. 8 Kenny Willekes
Kirk Cousins cruised into round two with a big win over one of his favorite receivers Keshawn Martin. Willekes ground out a close win over Justin Abdelkader, because all Kenny Willekes does is grind things out. Can he grind out an upset in round two?
No. 2 Connor Cook vs. No. 7 Miles Bridges
The most prolific and winningest quarterback in MSU history skipped into round two where he takes on perhaps the most talented Michigan State athlete of the last decade in Miles Bridges. Bridges took down Raymar Morgan in round one.
No. 3 TJ Duckett vs. No. 11 Kenny Goins
TJ Duckett bullied his way into the second round with a convincing win over Delvone Roe. He takes on Kenny Goins who, thanks to the biggest shot in Michigan State basketball history, scored a huge upset win in round one. Can Goins’ run continue?
No. 4 Charles Rogers vs. No. 5 Kalin Lucas
This is another great 4 vs. 5 matchup. Charles Rogers had a close-ish round one, but still prevailed while Kalin Lucas edged out Matt McQuaid. Both of these two are strong contenders in this region.
