'Faultless' - Liverpool star Mohamed Salah declared 'world's best' by West Ham player

West Ham United defender Ben Johnson has described Mohamed Salah as 'faultless' having just gone head-to-head with the Liverpool forward.

Although unable to get on the scoresheet in the Reds' 3-2 defeat to the Hammers on Sunday afternoon, Salah claimed an assist as Jurgen Klopp's side saw their 25-match unbeaten run come to an end.

The Egypt international has now gone three games without a goal on the back of a blistering start to the season - with Brighton, Atletico Madrid and West Ham all finding a way to nullify his attacking threat.

Johnson, who has effectively moved ahead of Vladimir Coufal in the pecking order at right-back for the Hammers, stood up well to the task of thwarting the prolific attacker and relished testing himself against someone he views as 'the best player in the world'.

"Incredible, faultless,” said the 21-year-old of Salah.

“He’s scored however many goals this season and he’s mirroring his form from a few seasons ago.

“Playing football and being in a dressing room we don’t really compare players, we just respect what they are doing if they are tearing it up.

“You can’t deny what he’s doing week after week, his consistency is world-class. He’s a fantastic player. Of course, you want to play against him, but at the same time, you want to be wary.

“I want to challenge myself against the best and he’s arguably the best player in the world.”

Salah's remains the Premier League top scorer with ten goals to his name and is joint-top for assists (7), alongside Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Resolving his future at Anfield remains a priority for senior club officials, with a breakthrough yet to be reached between both parties regarding a new deal.
