How’d you get your name?
Was it because the greatest golfer to ever play the game came back to win the most important tournament of his legendary career, a performance that left everyone in awe and full of emotions?
I’m guessing the answer to that question for you is probably no. But it will be yes for one boy who has yet to enter the world but will be named Tiger when he does.
That’s because the father, Trey Little, wrote up a contract before the tournament that was approved by his wife, Denise, that if Tiger won the Masters they’d named their son Tiger.
And then Tiger won the Masters.
The NY Post has the details:
Trey, who works with Denise at a hair-restoration practice, was bored one day at work earlier this month and half-jokingly drafted up a contract. He presented it to her in the break room: “If Tiger Woods wins the Masters this week, I (father) get to have the option of naming our son Tiger Little,” the document read.
“Would be the best comeback in the history of golf and arguably the history of modern sports,” Trey wrote in the contract.
“She laughed — and then she signed,” Trey says.
Then suddenly it was Sunday of the Masters and Tiger was walking up 18 with a two-stroke lead:
“On hole 18, we realized, ‘Wow, he’s really going to pull this thing off,” Trey Little, 25, tells The Post of Woods’ victory Sunday at the Augusta National.
The Dallas couple was so excited about Woods’ big win, it wasn’t until an hour or so later that they realized they would be having a “baby Tiger,” Trey, a lifelong golf fanatic, says.
“This whole thing started almost as a joke, then it turned into something really real, really quick.”
And now they’re going to go through with it.
“We went crazy, we were so happy,” Trey says. “We were so emotional just watching him win — we would have had the same reaction even if our son’s name wasn’t involved!”
