A wife has paid a heart-breaking tribute to her husband who had ‘an unbelievable bond’ with his daughter after he died tragically this week.
Amy Nelson, 31, has spoken about her ‘generous’ husband Paul, who was found dead in a park on August 30.
Emergency services arrived at the beauty spot shortly after 3pm but could not do anything to save the 39-year-old’s live.
Paul was a father to Lily, 2 and has been described as the ‘life and soul’ of a party by his devastated wife.
This week Amy paid tribute to the successful businessman who also had a twin brother, Jamie.
The 31-year-old said: “Paul meant the world to me.
“I feel like I’ve lost my right arm. We were inseparable. We spent so much time together, family days out, holidays, dinners out with friends. We loved sitting at home with a takeaway and a bottle of wine.
“He just got me, and I got him – the true definition of a soulmate.
“He was the best husband and father. He always looked after me. He was a gentleman. He made me feel safe, he was my rock.
“I was so proud the day he became a daddy, although he didn’t like changing many nappies!”
Paul from Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, died at a Birmingham beauty spot, according to BirminghamLive.
She continued: “He had this unbelievable bond with Lily. They would be silly together, and he loved nothing more than tucking her in bed at night and reading her a story.
“Paul brought joy and pleasure, and was the life and soul of every room he was in.
“He was such a generous man, and would do his best to create opportunities for his employees, friends and family.”
Paul grew up in Streetly and went to Lindens Primary School and then to Streetly School.
He first met Amy at First Personnel, where they both worked and the couple were married on July 30, 2016 at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel.
The couple’s daughter, Lily, was born on January 29, 2019.
Paul was a successful businessman having worked in recruitment for 11 years and then setting up his own agency, Nelson Recruitment Services in 2013.
Paul then set up Nelson Permanent Placements, now headed up by his best friend, Reiss Johnson.
He then went into partnership with two more friends and set up a children’s day nursery called Blossoms on the Common based in Pelsall.
On his business success Amy said: “Paul was the dreamer at school and people told him he would amount to nothing.
“He was once asked at school what he wanted to be and he said ‘a millionaire’ everyone laughed.
“But Paul wanted to be successful and he made sure he achieved it.
"He knew running a business wasn’t going to be easy but he took the time to learn and took advice from people along the way.
“Paul created opportunities for so many people and his work ethic was incredible.
"He worked so hard to create an amazing life for us as a family and for that, I’m forever grateful.
“We built those businesses together and I will continue to do that for him.”
Paul who lived with Amy in Aldridge would have been 40 in November. Amy said she is in the process of setting up the Paul Nelson Charitable Trust in memory of her husband and supporting people with mental health problems.
His funeral is set to take place on Monday, October 11 at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium followed by a celebration of his life at Aston Wood Golf Club.
Paul took his own life in Sutton Park due to a ‘long battle with mental health’. His wife said he was ‘supported and loved until the end’.
An inquest into his death is due to be held at the Black Country Coroner’s Court in Oldbury on Tuesday, November 2.
