Father Ted actors and Irish sporting stars selling personalised shout outs on new website

A host of Father Ted stars and Irish soccer legends are selling personalised shout outs on a new Irish website.

Irishify.com is a new online forum that is targeting the homesick Irish ex-patriot community unable to return home due to the global pandemic.

On top of selling a selection of Irish hampers and gift baskets, the website is offering personalised videos from a host of Irish cult stars and footballers.

Top of the billing is Father Ted star Michael Redmond who played the po-faced Father Stone in the cult comedy.

The comic is currently selling video messages on the site for EUR40 and he admits that he is more than happy to cash in on his niche celebrity.

“People have asked me do I get fed up with it and the truth is I really don’t,” he told the website.

“It’s fantastic that the show still has a huge fan base and has not lost any of its appeal. I feel quite honoured to have been involved. I’m often asked just to say… ‘No, I’m fine,’ into a phone so they can pass it on to someone else. Long may it last.”

Father Stone is not the only Father Ted character to have signed up to the site which follows in the footsteps of international hit video message site Cameo.

Joe Rooney, who played Father Damo and Pat McDonnell’s Eoin McLovin’ are also available on request for EUR40.

Fair City actor Eric Lalor is available for ten euro cheaper at EUR30 while Dancing with the Stars country music singer Clodagh Hagan will send you a video for EUR50.

The inspiration behind Irishify came from Dundalk men Paddy and Conor.

Paddy’s friend who lives in New York was due to come home for his 30th birthday, but due to COVID-19 that wasn’t possible.

Paddy still wanted to make him feel like he was back in Ireland, he had a plan and sent over a hamper and a personalised message from his favourite player on the Dundalk FC team.

The gesture was such a hit with the Irish in America the two friends decided to launch a website and irishify was born.

The newly launched website also boasts a number of local sporting heroes including jockey Mick Fitzgerald (EUR90) and League of Ireland star Patrick Hoban (EUR25).

However, the site is advertising that international soccer legends Shay Given, Steven Reid, Richard Dunne and Phil Babb will all be joining the site in the coming weeks.

Also, due to join the site is Andrew Trimble and controversial Sinn Fein politician and retired MMA star Paddy Holohan.
