Father's Day gifts at Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons and Sainsbury's for last-minute ideas

Finding the perfect Father’s Day gift can be a little bit stressful and often the task of tracking one down gets left to the last minute. Whether everything seems too generic or on the pricier side, it can be a really struggle even if you know what your dad is into.

If you've not got time left to head to town and you've missed the window to order in time for delivery, then picking up a present during your weekly shop might be a tempting idea. It doesn't necessarily mean having to compromise on quality or thought - from chocolate and sweets to a range of alcoholic beverages on offer, there is a lot on offer, although the variation is sometimes lacking.

We took a look at some of the supermarket offerings that were a bit more imaginative than just food or drink items. Here are a few ideas that were being advertised as potential Father's Day presents:

Lidl

If your dad’s garden is his pride and joy, then he may love the first item on this list. While on the more expensive side, costing £99.99, this Parkside 20V Cordless Lawn Mower could be the perfect upgrade for a dad who loves a spot of gardening.

With a three-year warranty it has many functions, from cutting close to the edge of the lawn to a five-step cutting adjustment that will change its height, and it can hold up to 32L worth of mown grass. The downside to this product is that you will need to buy a battery and charger as they are not included in the box.

Aldi

For dads who prefer self-care to garden care, there are plenty of products for a bit of pampering. But when it comes to buying expensive-smelling aftershaves and perfumes, the price can often put people off.

But Aldi has offered shoppers a cheaper alternative that are said to smell just like designer fragrances. Costing £5.99 per bottle, there are three to choose from: Lacura Conflict, Lacura Gentleman and Lacura Aqua.

Sainsbury's

If you’re looking for a more jokey present then the next one might be more to your taste. Sainsbury’s is selling a range of items for Father’s Day but one that stands out is their Dad Jokes Mug. Dad jokes are renowned for not being funny so why not put it on a mug. Costing just £5, this is not only a good and practical jokey gift, it’s cheap - perfect for budget-conscious dads who don’t like money being spent on them.

Morrisons

The final idea will remind everyone just how cool your dad actually is, and is aimed at those who love to be in charge of the summer barbecue duties. Morrisons’ Supercool Dad Apron costs £5 with four separate pockets, all labelled up to hold specific items including utensils and a phone.

If you'd prefer to take your dad for a bite to eat then Morrisons Cafe also has a massive 'Big Daddy Burger' priced at £7.99 or £5 for More Card customers. It's available from all this week until Sunday, and can be redeemed alongside the kids eat free offer.
