Father of Alec Baldwin accidental shooting victim refuses to blame actor for her death

The father of Halyna Hutchins has spoken out for the first time after the cinematographer was accidentally shot dead by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust.

The tragic incident took place on the movie set in New Mexico when Baldwin discharged a prop gun that accidentally killed Hutchins and injured the director Joel Souza.

63-year-old Baldwin has not been arrested or charged following the incident as it’s said he was unaware there was a live round in the gun.

Hutchins, 42, was airlifted to hospital where she was pronounced dead and her father, Anatoly Androsovych, has now spoken out that he isn’t blaming Baldwin for the accidental death of his daughter.

Speaking to the Sun On Sunday, he said: "We still can’t believe Halyna is dead and her mother is going out of her mind with grief.

"But I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible — it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns."

"The little boy has been very badly affected — he is lost without his mother," he revealed, adding: "Matt will decide if legal action is going to be taken."

Baldwin has released a statement expressing his devastation while also stating he has reached out to Hutchins’ family.

‘There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,’ the actor said.

‘I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred.

‘I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.’
