KOLKATA: Father Joseph Alexander, SJ, passed away on July 18 at the age of 73. The funeral mass will be conducted at the St Xavier’s College chapel on Thursday (July 21) at 10am, followed by burial at Dhyan Ashram.
Fr Joseph Alexander suffered a severe heart attack on Monday morning, following which he was taken to hospital, where he breathed his last.
He had spent 47 years in Kolkata as a Jesuit priest. He completed BCom from St Xavier’s College and joined the Society of Jesus (SJ). He worked as a teacher at St Lawrence High School, St Paul’s High School, Raghabpur, and St Xavier’s, Burdwan. He worked as pastor in a number of mission stations and parishes. Fr Joseph was also the superior at the Pre-Novitiate, Arunoday, Barasat.
He was in the infirmary of St Xavier’s College before he was hospitalized.
