A Canberra father has pleaded guilty to negligent driving over a crash which killed his seven-year-old daughter.
Christopher Ward, 74, was turning off Southern Cross Drive at Florey when he ran into the path of another car in July 2015.
The driver of the other car said he braked but was unable to stop the crash, hitting the left hand side of Ward's car.
Court documents reveal when the other driver stopped, he called out to Ward to see if he was okay.
Ward called back that his daughter needed help.
The driver said he called triple-0 and commenced CPR, which was taken over later by emergency workers, but the child died by the time she got to hospital.
Ward had tried to have a stay placed on the charge, because signs which he said had obscured his vision were not available to the court as evidence.
The application caused a long delay in the case.
But today he pleaded guilty to the charge of negligent driving, while a second charge of failing to give way was dropped.
Ward will be sentenced in February.
