A father has been handed a £480 fine after his son broke coronavirus lockdown laws four times.
The fixed penalty notice could be doubled to nearly £1,000 if the teenager continues to go outside without a good reason, West Midlands Police said.
The Walsall youth had previously broken lockdown rules three times before, prompting a warning from Blakenall neighbourhood police team to the teen’s dad.
However, unable to prevent his son from going out again, the force had “no option” but to issue a fine.
Reiterating the force’s plea to follow lockdown guidelines, Sgt Pursglove urged the nation to stay at home and only go outside for essential shopping, for exercise and to travel to work, if you cannot work from home.
“Some people seem to think that they will not catch the virus but they can unwittingly pass it on to others as well as catching it themselves,” he added.
“Thousands of people have now died in our own country and many thousands more will die if we don’t all do everything asked of us to prevent the spread of the virus.
“While the vast majority of people are doing as they are asked it is a pity we now have to put ourselves at risk dealing with those who do not.”
