Man charged with murder over death of baby boy in Mackay

A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm over the death of a six-month-old baby boy in north Queensland in June, police say.

Six-month-old Beau Bradshaw was found unresponsive at a home at East Mackay on June 2.

The boy died in hospital two days later, having suffered a traumatic brain injury and other internal injuries.

Officers from Mackay's Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested the man about 2:00pm on Monday.

Detective Acting Inspector Mick Searle said it had been a "detailed, thorough and difficult investigation".

The man is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
