Father charged in death of 2-month-old boy

June 06--A 34-year-old Ashburn man has been charged with murder in the death of his 2-month-old son over the weekend, police said.

Brandon Holman, of the 3200 block of West 83rd Place, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Bryson Holman, according to a Chicago police news release.

Bryson died of multiple abuse injuries after he was found at his home in the 3200 block of West 83rd Place on Saturday, the Cook County medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Sunday. Holman had called for medical assistance for an unresponsive 2-month-old about noon Saturday.

Investigators determined the infant had bruising to his arms and neck and that he had been dead for some time, according to the release.

The boy was taken to Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

The Illinos Department of Children and Family Services also is investigating the father for allegations of abuse, a spokeswoman said Monday morning. The agency said it has had no prior contact with the family, and while Bryson had three siblings, they do not live with the father.

Holman was scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
