A father and his two sons have been charged with murder over a flat
fire that killed a 17-year-old girl, her six-month-old daughter
and a friend.
Amy Smith and her daughter, Ruby-Grace Gaunt, died along with their
friend Edward Green, 17, in the home in Langley Mill, Derbyshire, on
21 June. All three died of smoke inhalation.
Peter Eyre, 43, and Anthony Eyre, 21 of Central Avenue, Sandiacre and
Simon Eyre, 24, of New Tythe Street, Long Eaton have each been charged
with three counts of murder, Derbyshire police said.
The father and two sons are due at Chesterfield magistrates court.
A 17-year-old from Long Eaton, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail.
Police were called to flats in North Street at 4.04am on Sunday following reports of a fire.
One fire engine was sent to the property after Derbyshire fire and rescue service was initially called at 4am to a car fire in North Street. A further three fire engines were sent out following a call two minutes later reporting the house fire.
Two men, aged 18 and 17, who were also inside the premises at the time, were rescued by neighbours and treated for smoke inhalation.
