Father and son suspected of shoplifting found hiding in a wardrobe

A pair of suspected shoplifters were arrested after being found hiding in a wardrobe.

Police found the father and son in their unimaginative hiding place after swooping on a house in Blackley on Thursday.

And to make the dad's day even worse it was his 51st birthday.

They were arrested on suspicion of 10 shoplifting offences from convenience stores in Blackley.

Police say a small amount of cannabis was also found in the house.

In a Facebook post , GMP Manchester North wished the dad happy birthday 'on behalf of the neighbourhood team'.

They wrote: "Earlier today officers attended an address in Blackley; upon gaining entry the suspects were found hiding in a not so very invisible wardrobe.

"Both Father and Son who is also an adult, were arrested on 10 counts of shoplifting offences, which occurred at local convenience stores in Blackley.

"Within the address, there was a small amount of cannabis. To top things off it was the Father's 51st Birthday.

"On behalf of the Neighbourhood team, happy birthday and see you in court! #GMPBlackley."
