A Canberra court has heard how a 40-year-old father allegedly assaulted a teenage girl his daughter had ridiculed in TikTok videos.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is now fighting charges of assault, incitement and driving while disqualified.

Today, the ACT Magistrates Court heard evidence from his alleged victim, a 16-year-old girl who said the man's daughter had made belittling videos about her on the social media platform TikTok.

The court heard the videos were shared with others, and had mocked the girl's appearance and weight.

In a police interview, the girl who was allegedly the target of the videos said the animosity between the two teens began after she dated the other girl's ex-boyfriend.

The court heard the feud culminated in a physical altercation in the north Canberra suburb of Taylor one Friday night.

The daughter allegedly called her father, who soon arrived with his partner.

The court heard the man allegedly egged his daughter on as she fought with the other girl, yelling, "Smash her head in."

"Get her, get her", another witness said she heard the father yell.

The alleged victim said that, during the fight, the man grabbed her by the throat while his partner pulled her away from the other girl.

Another witness told the court that she saw the man grab the 16-year-old around the neck, and later saw marks around her throat.

A hearing into the case is ongoing.
