Father accidentally reverses into son, crashes car through brick wall

The driver was not injured in the crash.

A Perth man is in hospital with suspected severe spinal injuries after his father reversed a car into him, pushing him through a brick wall and into a neighbour's pool in the western suburb of Claremont.

Police said the man in his thirties was standing behind the car when his father — who was driving the vehicle — hit the accelerator by mistake on Sunday afternoon.

With the car in reverse it is understood the man was pushed through a brick wall before ending up in the neighbour's pool.

The vehicle was left teetering on a fence but the driver was not injured.

Police said the son had suspected spinal injuries.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.
