Fatboy Slim 'joining the cast' of Derry Girls for the show’s third and final series

Fatboy Slim will reportedly be joining the cast of Derry Girls for the show's third and final season.

The 58-year-old, whose real name is Norman Cook, will apparently be playing himself when he films his parts in December.

An insider explained: “Norman has agreed to do some filming for Derry Girls – he’s a big fan of the show.

"The show is based in the ’90s so it will hark back to when he broke through as Fatboy Slim with big hits like Praise You."

His tracks were a huge hit during the 90s when the show is set.

It was reported that he was meant to film his scenes on October 23 before he played a concert in Belfast that day.

However, the show has been postponed until December 17 due to Covid restrictions in Northern Ireland.

The source added: “As his show has been rescheduled. we are just working out when we will now shoot his scenes.

“It will most likely be when he is back here in a few months as the show is due to continue filming into December.

“Norman’s also a funny guy and great craic, so we are expecting him to really get into it and have a lot of fun.

“You can only imagine what the on-screen characters like Erin, Michelle and Clare will make of seeing Fatboy Slim in the flesh – it will be hilarious.”

Mirror have contacted reps for comment.

Creator of the Channel 4 series Lisa McGee recently confirmed that season three will be the last for the series.

Lisa penned: "It was always the plan to say goodbye after three series. Derry Girls is a coming of age story; following five ridiculous teenagers as they slowly..very slowly…start to become adults, while around them the place they call home and starts to change too and Northern Ireland enters a new more hopeful phase - which was a small, magical window of time."

The talented writer continued: "Derry Girls is a love letter to the place I come from and the people who shaped me. It had been an honour to write it and I will be forever proud of everything it’s achieved."

Lisa went on to share how she is proud of the show and grateful to Channel 4 for allowing her to make it.

She then thanked the cast and crew for their amazing work.
