Dance legend Fatboy Slim has gathered a lot of 'praise' after announcing a massive free concert for NHS workers, with tickets flying out in minutes.
The top DJ and producer, real name Norman Cook, is going to take to the decks for a big gig in Brighton to honour all the hard work of those who have been fighting the frontline battle against coronavirus.
Announcing the event in a video message, Fatboy Slim the man responsible for hits like Rockafella Skank, Weapon of Choice and Praise You, said: "Recently, friends of mine who work in the NHS asked me to send a little video message to thank and cheer on the frontline troops and in it I, (half) jokingly said, we should all have a big party together when this is all over," Cook said in the statement.
"Careful what you wish for, as so many people responded to the comment, I thought, 'why not?' By the time life returns to normal we will all want to celebrate together and, I would like to do my bit to reward and thank everyone who has been holding our lives together in these most difficult of times."
Tickets for the gig at the Brighton Centre were made available at 7pm on Friday and were gone within a matter of minutes. To ensure NHS workers get the party they deserve, all tickets will carry the name of the person who made the booking, and this must match the name on the NHS or Primary Care Trust I.D card, or admission will be refused.
FatboySlim, who delighted fans at a massive rave in Gateshead last year, tweeted after all the tickets had been snapped up to say: "Please note re-sold tickets will not be valid."
He is the latest musician to announce a gig in honour of the NHS, following on from the likes Liam Gallagher and Rick Astley.
