Fatboy Slim announces free concert for NHS and emergency service workers

Fatboy Slim has announced a free concert for NHS staff and emergency workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.

The legendary DJ, real name Norman Cook, is getting the party started in his hometown of Brighton in October in a bid to lift spirits and show his thanks those battling to stop the health crisis.

The Praise You hitmaker said: "Recently, friends of mine who work in the NHS asked me to send a little video message to thank and cheer on the frontline troops and in it I, (half) jokingly said, we should all have a big party together when this is all over'

"Careful what you wish for, as so many people responded to the comment, I thought, 'why not?'

"By the time life returns to normal we will all want to celebrate together and, I would like to do my bit to reward and thank everyone who has been holding our lives together in these most difficult of times."

The celebrated performer, who shares a son with ex wife Zoe Ball, all emergency and frontline workers to the gig at the Brighton Centre.

Liam Gallagher is another star using his powers for good and will host a free concert for NHS workers at London's 02, also in October.

Today Scots rockers Primal Scream announced they were proud to be joining the line-up, with more acts still to be announced.
