The New Zealand seven-piece band will bring their dub-reggae-funk sound to capital cities around Australia, following the release of their seventh album, Bays (2015).

Formed in the late 1990s, Fat Freddy’s Drop was a “silly name that stuck” after the seven-piece funk machine took a 48 hour LSD trip (Fat Freddy’s was the drug’s street name at the time).

Their debut album Based on a True Story went nine times platinum and remained in New Zealand’s charts for over two years.

The new album draws on a variety of genres that have come to epitomise their unique sound, with a hybrid of techno rhythms underneath reggae-funk melodies and soulful vocals.
