Fastfood restaurant described as 'Asia's KFC' could open in Nottingham

A fastfood restaurant described as 'Asia's KFC' is set to open in Nottingham.

Up to 70 jobs could be created under the plans for the eatery in Clumber Street.

Bee World UK Ltd, part of the Jollibee Foods Corporation, has tabled a bid to open in the city.

Philippines fast food chain Jollibee is best known for its Chickenjoy fried chicken, which is described as 'crispylicious' and 'juicylicious'.

With more than 1,000 restaurants nationwide, Jollibee is described as the 'Asian KFC'.

It is particularly successful in Vietnam and China and the chain opened in London in 2018.

The firm also opened in Leicester in November.

A planning statement, submitted to the city council, read: "We seek to establish formal planning permission for the restaurant use in order to establish certainty and thereby invest in the property and staff in the long term.

"This will be a significant investment in the town centre and approximately 70 jobs will be created at a time when the high street is suffering and traditional high street jobs are being lost."

The restaurant is earmarked for the vacant 46-48 Clumber Street, on the street's corner with Parliament Street, which was due to be a Metro Bank.

The building is expected to be occupied by the restaurant by April or May.
