A fast growing Scottish bagel business is launching its first crowdfunding campaign to drive further expansion.
Bross Bagels has grown in three years from being an “idea born out of a mid-life crisis” to a fast-growing brand that is adding more outlets and enthusiastic fans.
The entrepreneur behind the business is Larah Bross, Canadian-born stand-up comedian.
She says she is now offering loyal customers a chance to be part the burgeoning business by becoming a ‘Share Holer’.
Based in Portobello near Edinburgh, Bross Bagels produce all their own bagels in-house to their own Montreal-inspired recipe.
The funding would go to pay for a custom-built bakery which enable them to meet the growing demand in their current six stores but also grow their online and wholesale trade.
The business said it has found the perfect location for the bakery, right across the road from its flagship store in Portobello.
Previously a bank, the builders are already converting the property into a bakery.
The crowdfunding scheme will offer two levels to become part of what they are calling the “Bross Poss” - with support at £100 or £1,000.
The benefits include bagel vouchers for four years, exclusive invites, guided bakery tours and the supporter's name on the Share Holers Wall of Fame.
The offer at the higher level of support is for the funder to receive a complete refund after four years.
Business owner Larah Bross said: “We are excited at the prospect of finding Share Holers who can help us take Bross Bagels to the next level while participating in a high level of innuendo.”
